Hello all! Does anyone know anything about Victoria Education and Training JSC ? I will be moving to Vietnam to teach and am considering working with them. They seem absolutely lovely, very helpful and all of that but I cannot seem to find any information about them! I've found the website but it does not have a translation function (or perhaps I just missed it!). Has anybody had any experiences with this company or know of anyone who has? Or can anyone direct me to a good reviews forum? I have tried Glassdoor and Dave's ESL Cafe (among others) to no avail. Any advice that you can think of for a newbie to the 'Foreign Teacher' game would be amazing! I'd love to know about: - Any experiences with the Visa/permit process - Any recommendations in terms of employers/schools to...

Hi All Was wondering if anyone could help with some information regarding vaccinations for babies in Vietnam. My daughter had her first lot of Vaccines in Australia and is due for her second vaccines soon but not sure where is best to go. Have enquired to Vinmec and Hanoi Family Medical Practice but the prices are very different and was wondering why this is and if anyone has experience with this. Thanks in advance

Hello, I moved to Hanoi one month ago and I'm in desperate need of a western hair salon. I have dark hair naturally but bleach it out completely. Does anyone suggest a good salon that will not ruin my hair? There must be a lot of expats who colour their hair blonde. Thanks

Hi Everyone:) Does anyone know whether there are some companies in Hanoi offering help in getting rid of rats/mice? I have a horrendous rat/mice problem on the roof since I live on the last floor. Every night I am woken up by horrible sounds made by these creatures. There must be a nest. My landlord refuses to solve this problem. I would like to believe that it can be handled in some ways. I would be grateful for some advice:)

Hi all, We are moving to Hanoi and are so excited!!! We have 2 kids: girl of 4 years old and boy of 7. We are wondering what are the options for International schools in Hanoi? Our budget is about $10,000-$15,000/ year and we need to choose the one that offers teaching in English ( our kids can't really speak Vietnamese that fluent, yet ;)) Any other suggestions are VERY MUCH appreciated; especially from parents!! Also looking for Hanoi parenting groups where we can exchange ideas, tips... of parenting ;))) in Hanoi, play dates, where to go for family holiday, etc... ? Do such groups exist? Thanks loads and hope to hear from you soon!!

I'm looking for a dietitian in Hanoi, IE someone to help prepare a healthy meal plan to assist in weight loss, its easy in western countries with so much low GI low Fat foods to find healthy food to eat, but here I struggle, so someone with a knowledge of whats available locally and whats suitable for this city would be fantastic. Also someone with knowledge of certain foods for certain body types, IE some people are carbohydrate intolerant etc... any help/suggestions appreciated...

Hi all, I've been in a relationship with a Vietnamese girl for over 2 years, and now we are engaged. I've been trying to look into how to organise a wedding in around 2018, but she is just as clueless as I am. I still live in the UK, and my fiancée is I'm the process of moving to USA, however she really wants to get married in Vietnam. I've been looking it up a little, and it seems like a real nightmare for a foreigner to marry a girl of Vietnamese origin in Vietnam. However most of these posts I've seen are two years or older. I was hoping someone could give me a detailed account (or link me somewhere that does a comprehensive description) of how to go about arranging this with my partner, and any of the more negative sides of attempting this. I was really hoping th...

Hey, I am hoping to come to Vietnam (Hanoi) in January to teach English. I have a Bsc, TEFL. My question is about reputable companies. I think I want to have a job lined up before I arrive and have seen lots on the job boards here. Which companies are reputable? What has your experience been with them? I've seen ILA, SET, and a few others too. Many thanks

From what I read on Tnhvietnam, it's not easy to open a new bank account in Hanoi if the individual is not a permanent resident and not employed here. I will be an unemployed, retired expat, but with a steady income of moderate means from the USA. I just communicated with a friend in HCMC, and he is of similar status (unemployed, unmarried, non-citizen,non-permanent resident) and tells me he had no trouble at all opening personal bank accounts in Saigon with both ANZ and HSBC. Can it be that different in HCMC, he said it is that different!

I'm a retired person living in VN for 5 years. Over the years I wired a lot of my money to VN which I converted to VND. Now I am wondering if I will be able to change it to USD or another currency and transfer it to another country if and when I decide to leave VN. Yesterday a banker at a VN bank told me that if I can prove the source of the money, I can convert it back to USD but she said that the rules are very strict about how you can prove the source of the money. I have records of the wires from the US, but after I wired the money here I moved it around a lot to different accounts in the same bank, some short term, some long term, some for investment and some for living expenses. I also moved it around a lot to different banks in VN. The bank woman said that to be able to pro...
