Hi, I'm heading back up to Hanoi in the next couple of days. I'm thinking of buying a bike and heading up to Sapa. I was just wondering if anybody knows of anywhere I can keep some of my luggage, that's safe and secure ?? Thank you. Paul
Is it normal for the elevators to free fall and stop all the time here? I don't feel like riding in these things too much if at all possible or absolutely necessary. Gal at the local store said she walks up and down stairs and doesn't use them.
Hi, everyone. I have a French friend. He will have Master of IT in this September. Do you know any company recruits French staff in Hanoi? He can join Interview this August. Thank you very much for any suggestion.
Alas, some fool (not me, of course) took my UK passport for a ride in the washing machine. Not once, but twice. Photo page has not been damaged, and nor have the visas. The passport pages themselves look a bit sad, and some of the stamps have been washed out. How bad is it? Is it still usable or do I need to get it replaced? If so, what is the procedure and how long does it take?
I have a large amount of US dollars in cash. I need to get it to my account in the states or to an account in South Korea. Any advice on how to do this without paying a ridiculous black market transfer fee of $600(!!!!!) or being questioned by a bank?
The IRS passed a law called FACTA which requires foreign banks to notify them of all accounts with a balance over $50,000 held by US citizens or residents. The account holder has to authorize this by filling out a W9 form. Since my balance is well below $50,000, I am not legally equired to fill out the W9 form. However, my bank, Vietcombank, requires all US customers to fill out a W9 form, regardless of their account balance. I don't want to provide the US govenment with information that I am not legally required to give them, so I need to find another bank that will not require me to fill out the W9 form. Does anyone know of any such banks?
Hi, My husband and I are moving here with our 7 year old. Would love a bit of advice on where we should be looking for accommodation and also how I can find groups for my son. We dontvwabt to do international schools, we tend to be a bit more informal :) so whether there are kids groups or extra curricular we can look into and getting him a tutor that would be great. Would love a bit of advice. Thanks in advance!
Hi, I am looking at a working holiday in Hanoi later in the year. I only need the internet to complete my job. What are the internet speeds like in hostels, hotels and private apartments in Hanoi? Thanks for your help.
